1. Introduction

Welcome to StudyRoot AI. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in an open and transparent manner. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and your rights in relation to your data when you use our application.

2. Information We Collect and How We Use It

To provide our services, we need to process certain information, some of which may require you to grant specific permissions on your device. Below is a detailed breakdown of the permissions we request and how the associated data is used.

a. Camera Permission

  • Why we ask for it: The camera permission is required for our "AI Solver" and "Image Analyzer" features.
  • How we use it: This permission allows you to take pictures of questions, problems, or objects directly within the app. The captured image is then sent to our third-party AI service (Google Gemini) for processing to provide you with a solution or analysis.
  • Data Storage: We do not store these images on our servers. They are processed in real-time and discarded after the analysis is complete.

b. Microphone Permission

  • Why we ask for it: The microphone is used for voice input in our "AI Solver," "AI Simulator," and "AI Chat" features.
  • How we use it: This permission allows you to ask questions or interact with our AI assistant using your voice. The audio is captured, converted to text, and then sent to our AI service to generate a response.
  • Data Storage: The audio data from your microphone is not stored. It is processed in real-time for transcription and then immediately discarded.

c. Storage/Gallery Permission

  • Why we ask for it: This permission is needed for the "AI Solver" and "Image Analyzer" features to allow you to upload images from your device's gallery.
  • How we use it: We only access the specific image file that you choose to upload. The selected image is then processed by our AI service in the same way as an image captured by the camera.
  • Data Storage: We do not scan your photo library or access any files other than the ones you explicitly select. Uploaded images are not stored on our servers.

d. Notifications Permission (Optional)

  • Why we ask for it: This permission is requested if you choose to enable alarms in the "Planning" section for your timetable.
  • How we use it: If you grant this permission, our app can send you local notifications on your device to remind you of your scheduled study sessions or tasks.
  • Data Storage: The notification schedule is managed and stored locally on your device. We do not track these notifications on our servers.

e. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

Some features store data directly on your device using your browser's local storage. This data is not transmitted to our servers.

  • To-Do List & Timetable: Tasks and schedule entries you create in the "Planning" section are saved on your device so they are available every time you use the app.

3. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to others. To provide our core functionality, we share the necessary information (the image, text, or audio query) with our AI service provider, Google Gemini. This data is used solely for the purpose of generating an AI response. Google's use of this data is governed by its own Privacy Policy.

We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or a government agency).

4. Data Security

We are committed to protecting your data. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the information we process. However, please remember that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

5. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
